CAN you help find relatives of the artist who painted this picture?
The painting, bearing the name Lt Col P. R. Nightingale, of the East Yorkshire Regiment, was bought for only $10 in Perth, Western Australia, by local woman Jan Pittman.
Although Jan has been carrying out research to try and find out more information about Lt Col Nightingale, her efforts have not been able to track him down.
Now, before Jan embarks on a trip to the UK in June, she is hoping to find any relatives of Lt Col Nightingale and reunite them with his painting.
She said: “It appears that Lt Col P. R. Nightingale wrote a book about the history of the East Yorkshire Regiment and, according to the Imperial War Museum, served as an officer in it in both World Wars.
“I would guess that the painting, which is of the Crusaders’ Church, Jerusalem, was done in World War One.
“I am not interested in making any money, or in doing archive research – just perhaps returning the painting to family members if there are still any locally.”
If you recognise the painting, or are related to Lt Col Nightingale, then you can e-mail Jan on firstname.lastname@example.org.
