Another Pathfinder masterpiece

Rise Of The Runelords Chapter 2: The Skinshaw Murders, by Paizo Publishing ($13.99 pdf and $19.99 softcover print edition)

Following on from the highly impressive first chapter, Burnt Offerings, Paizo Publishing has produced another beautifully crafted offering with The Skinshaw Murders.

The adventure path picks up with a sudden series of brutal killings in Sandpoint.

The killer's mark bears a disturbing similarity to the strange rune the goblins in Burnt Offerings had as their tribal totem and it is up to the player-characters to once again investigate.

Their involvement leads to a confrontation with the sinister murderer who has claimed an infamous haunted mansion as his lair.

But the murderer is just one of many - a member of a group of killers who call themselves the Skinsaw Men and have adopted an ancient magic involving the seven deadly sins.

The PCs must travel to the bustling city of Magnimar to unravel the truth behind the rune but in so doing may become prime suspects in the killings themselves.

This volume of Pathfinder includes a detailed description of the city of Magnimar, several new monsters and a detailed description of the goddess of dreams and travel, Desna, along with notes on her faithful followers.

Learning more about the seven sins magic system serves to whet the appetite and it looks like the sins theme - in terms of the various runelords and their magic - is going to work well in every respect.

Again, this monthly chapter is divided into sections and we get a further glimpse into the journal of Pathfinder Eando Kline.

The artwork is again top class and the writing superb.

I can't stress enough the quality of these monthly releases in terms of the production, world-layering and plot development and can't wait to see where the series goes.

Bring on chapter 3!
