Government doesn't seem to care about hospital

I have been following the debate about our hospital and the imminent closure of the heart unit, and the ignorance of Alan Johnson – ignoring the request by the population of Bridlington to intervene.
His silence on the subject speaks volumes of this uncaring Labour Government.

Before anyone accuses me of being a disgruntled Tory, I am a life-long labour supporter – a supporter that is thinking the unthinkable, changing parties.

This Govern
ment seems totally out of touch with the electorate on most things.

I have good reason to worry about the location of the heart unit as I was taken to it with a heart attack in January last year.

A journey to Scarborough would have killed me, I felt that rough.
This is only my own assessment but the "golden hour" would most likely have passed by the time I reached Scarborough and great damage would have been done to my heart due to delayed treatment if I had lived.

This Labour Government will want us all to vote them into power again but why in the world should we bother when they cannot be bothered with us?

At least the local Tory Ministers have shown great support to the local campaign to protect Bridlington Hospital.

I would like to thank Mick Pilling for his undaunted efforts.

Why does the local NHS trust take the word of Prof Sir George Alberti against the views of the local, practising doctors?

If the doctors say it would be bad to close the heart unit and acute services, the trust should believe them.

After all, they are employed to keep us and the nation healthy.

Peter Thompson, via e-mail,
Cornfield Crescent, Bridlington.
