A team of five girls from Martongate Primary School recently travelled to Stoke on Trent to compete in the National Finals for the Carita House Gymnastics Championships, representing Yorkshire as Yorkshire champions.
The standard of gymnastics was extremely high as they had to compete against other regional champions throughout Britain. The team performed at their usual high standard which earned them 4th place, a considerable achievement against the very best gymnasts from across the country.

Team members are Grace Pugh (8), Emily Hart (8), Bronte Andrew (9), Megan Martin (10) and Nicole Lawrance (9)

Head Teacher, Mr David Carruthers, received a letter from the organiser of the competition, Linda McNally, it read “I just wanted to write to let you know how wonderfully your children did on Saturday at the National Gymnastics finals.

“They worked so hard and with such dedication. They supported each other and were perfect ambassadors for Martongate, displaying qualities of ‘Teamwork, Commitment and Excellence’.”

Mr Carruthers is very proud of the team and thanks coaches Jo Ward and Sarah Pugh for all their hard work and commitment.
