An impressive evening performance from Bridlington Swimming Club gave them a win in their first Ridings League competition of 2008.
The mood was good from the coach to the poolside. Out of the 48 events competed throughout the Gala, BSC won 17 in total and were second in a further 12 events. At the end of the medley relays BSC were tying for first place with Thirsk. After the ind
ividuals BSC were 10 points clear. Tension mounted when the first two relays were disqualified and BSC looked to have blown it. A fantastic girls relay rallied them and they went on to narrowly win by just 3 points.

Team successes came from the girls 12 years and under Shannon Fowler, Georgina Marsh, Tori Dickinson and Grace Dennis all recording personal best times to set a new freestyle relay division record. Success in the boys 12 & under Medley relay came from Matthew Faulkner, Adam Morland, William Dennis and Wayne Oakley again all swimming in PB times. 9 & 10 year old girls Sophie Holdsworth, Charlotte Hornsey, Lucy Nellist and Rianna Manson won their medley relay event.

One third of the individual events were won by BSC swimmers across the age groups. William Dennis was again in record breaking mood setting a new division time of 18.76 in the 25m Backstroke. Other individual winners were Gemma Holdsworth, returning to Gala competition in convincing style, Georgina Marsh, Kimberley Nellist, Lucy Nellist and Grace Dennis (2). Jack Dare, Adam Morland, William Dennis and Joe Harvey were double winners in their entitled individual events. Coach Geoff Edmond was delighted with the team’s performance and felt every swimmer had made a valuable contribution to the success.Thank you to helpers and well done all swimmers.

Result 1 Bridlington 131, 2 South Hunsley 128, 3 Thirsk 110, 4 South Holderness Torpedoes 97.
