TICKETS for Oasis' gig at Bridlington Spa were snapped up within minutes.
Hundreds of people who queued for hours were left empty-handed, as the complex's allocation of just a few hundred tickets were sold by 11am.

It was worse on-line, where more than 2,500 tickets were sold within two minutes.

Within hours, many of the £44.50 tickets were being resold on auction website eBay.

So, what should be the biggest event of the year in Bridlington has left many with a sour taste.

Have local people been discriminated against because so few tickets were available at the Spa? Or was it a case that demand would always outstrip supply?

Have you got a ticket? Or were you one of the unlucky ones who only got a soaking?

Let us know your feelings by leaving a comment below.

If there was queue jumping and pushing in then I feel for the people who waited for hours and lost out but otherwise I do not have much sympathy. When you queue for something like this you take your chances. Someone is always going to miss out and be left disapointed and angry. Been there myself, looking for someone to blame. Often its just hard cheese. Why blame the Spa? Maybe they only get a certain number of tickets from the promoter??

I tried to get a ticket through a website vendor. 09:59 the tickets were open to buy, I got through to buy a ticket at 10:01 and submitted my details by 10:02, which was apparently too late as the gig was sold out...

Having queued since 4am and with 125 people in front of me (125 people x 4 tickets, against 800) I was confident I would get them.

I alerted Spa Management at 8am that people were pushing in, and was met with a 'we are doing what we can'. This particular Manager (suit, mobile phone glued to his ear) than continued to strut his way down the line, and picked up his mobile phone and did not deal with the pushers in. This was raised again with him later on, along with comments to further spa employee (black trousers, black shirt, spa badge).

On each occasion we were given the brush off. The guy in the suit did say that there was no point complaining as he was confident we would get them.

At 11am, 30 from the front, we were told they had gone. I spoke to the Manager concerned, explaining that if I have queued and they had gone it was fair enough, but for him to continue serving the people who rolled up in 4x4’s at 9am to push in and not be challenged it was very unfair. I was rational, articulate and did not rant or shout, and the Manager concerned shrugged his shoulders.

I myself am a Manager and to not take any accountability and to not have any answers is totally unfair to those who queued.

I appreciate there are now no tickets left and I won’t be going, however how the Spa staff can let people down like this is beyond me.

Without getting personal, the Manager in the suit clearly took no accountability, had no answers and was clearly more inserted in walking the queue, whilst having his phone to his ear, and has an issue with conflict. Pushers in should not be served, and those who queued all night long should be given an explanation

The way the spa handled the situation today was very poor, there were not enough people walking out of the building with tickets to add up to 800, even if they did buy 4 tickets each, the manager only shrugged his shoulders when he recived any complaints. I live in brid, as did alot of people in the que, our council tax paid for that building!!!!!!! I did finally manage to get tickets but at a cost and all the way from Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!

To all those who are complaining about not getting a ticket... do you live in the real world? It really isnt the spa's fault...its a bigger issue regarding tickets for concerts in general. If people can buy tickets and then sell them for profit on ebay...they will!!! Until that changes then its the luck of the draw, sometimes you win...sometimes you don't. I speak from frustration at missing out on a lot of gigs in the past.
In response to heart09 "I live in brid, as did alot of people in the que, our council tax paid for that building!!!!!!" what difference does that make? its an oasis concert!!!!!
And for all the people moaning about pushing in....why did you let them? Im sorry but if I had been out in the rain from 4am and saw someone pushing in...I would have said something to them and lets face it all the people in the queue with you would have backed you up!

I to think it is disgusting that local people did not stand a chance of getting a ticket is the money of the people of Bridlington not good enough? Why is it that you can queue from 4am and be unlucky go home log on to ebay at 11am and buy a ticket for £200. There are still tickets for sale there 12 hours later so why did the spa not have more are there no perks for living in this town. As for the queue jumpers we all know who some of them are so just lets boycot their businesses after all it is a long winter.

I was a little gutted that because I had to be at a meeting that day I couldn't queue at the spa; but I did spend the morning attempting to get tickets by leaving my phone on constant redial and accessing the ticketmaster website from 10am.. I finally got through at 1230pm to be told as I already knew that tickets had already sold out, I had known this since about 1025, The part that really does leave a bitter taste is the fact that at 1030 tickets were already on the internet for sale at double face value and by 11 some people on ebay were bidding upto 255 a pair. The system clearly did not work; obviously the concert will have a positive impact on the town irrellevant of where people flock from in terms of commerce. But more could and should be done to allow the people who are paying for this facility to enjoy the spoils:

Tickets could have been on sale for a 24 hours period when you could only buy them with a valid council tax bill for the east riding; or if they were sent to a post-code within the region for online sales.

or

The spa could have a memebership scheme where people can register in order to be able to make early purchases on tickets released; say a 24 hour period before tickets go on general public release.

Aside from this the only criticism I really have of the spa is the website needs to be dynamic and not a few links to downloadable pdf's. The booking system needs to be implemented and a news feed should be added; the membership scheme or early purchase system could easily be implemented; there is no point having a website for a facility like the spa which does not offer REAL online services.

The only way to tackle the unscrupulous individuals who hold fans to ransom and name the price of tickets, is to simply not buy them.

Here is an idea:
Only allow people from Glastonbury to attend Glastonbury.
Only allow people from Scotland to attend T In the Park.

Are the people in bridlington stuck in a time warp?

Also, how can we criticise people for selling tickets on Ebay? Do we criticise owners of pubs for buying beer in and then selling at an inflated price? Don`t buy the beer. It is a business. It is that simple.
If people stopped buying from touts then the touts wouldn`t exist. Don`t hate the player. Hate the game. The people who buy from ticket touts are the people we need to criticise and educate.
