ENGLISH strokeplay champion Jodi Ewart and Essex talent Laura Cutler are both celebrating wins on the US college circuit.

In the third and final round she came from behind and retained her title with a spectacular blitz of birdies on the 15th, 17th and 18th. The second year student was two-under for the inward half; one under for the day on 72 and level par for the tournament.

Jodi was later named co-player of the year by her conference and identified as one of its best players by being named in its women's team for the 2007-2008 season.

Laura Cutler, who trained in English Women's Golf Association squads for five years, has won the Ohio Valley Conference women's championship.

Laura who is a first year student at Jacksonville State University, Alabama, was named co-freshman of the year by her conference. Her play also helped her college to win the conference team title by a whopping 21 shots.

The 20-year-old from Warley Golf Club led throughout the tournament at Shoals Golf Club, Florence, in Alabama. She had rounds of 78, 76, 76 on the par 72, 6154-yard course and finished a shot clear of the field.

Jacksonville's winning team included a second English player: Portia Abbot from Wiltshire who finished 3rd. Also in the field was Surrey's Andrea Downer, who is a student at Murray State University and finished joint 28th.
