Pathfinder, by Paizo Publishing, is a fantastic new adventure series with superb production values.
Released monthly, the Pathfinder series features a fascinating gaming world as well as interesting, linked adventures and much more besides.
Each edition fills out more details of the world of Golarion and the people who inhabit it, from the well-developed and wonderfully illustrated characters to menacing monsters and intriguing locations.
The artwork is simply superb, with exquisite maps and graphics, and the plot of the inter-connected adventures will leave you eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
A good place to start with this gaming platform, before the first adventure path, is the 16-page Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide, a great resource for players (and games masters) embarking on the Pathfinder campaign.
Players can learn about the class of character they can choose, from warriors to barbarians and bards to wizards, as well as the races inhabiting Varisia.
There are explanations of the various deities, equipment and weapons characters can spend their hard-earned money on and some of the places they will visit.
The guide basically provides characters with all the information they could be expected to know if they grew up in the town of Sandpoint, the starting point for the first adventure path Rise Of The Runelords.
And the best part of all? The print version of the guide is only $2 from the
Paizo Publishing website and is also available as a free download
here! The monthly releases can be ordered as softcover, high quality, print editions or downloadable pdfs and have 96 pages packed full with scenario details, monster stats, background information on the world setting, the continuing journal of a Pathfinder and other useful material.
