GOOD clean, honest fun for children – that's the promise from Bridlington based entertainers The Sandow Clowns, who are staging a charity concert at Bridlington Spa early next month.
All the proceeds of their Circus Party show are in aid of CLICSargent, a national charity for young people with cancer.

Over the years the entertainers have donated more than £21,000 to the cause from their successful touring shows up and down the country.

The group's Sheila Bratby said: "We have chosen Bridlington because it is our home town and this will probably be the only time an all proceeds event like this can be planned. We hope the people of Bridlington will support us."

The show, for one night only, is at the Spa on Friday, September 11.

A fun evening is in store. Their fall-about humour and comedy includes stilt walking, juggling, their comedy musical car, plus lots of prizes and audience participation.

There is a circus feel to their act, which is aimed at children up to the age of about eight. No bangs, no mess, nothing to frighten, just fun and laughter.

It is a winning formula which has ranked them fourth in the country on a Times Online poll to find the top five events for kids.

The group have been based in Bridlington since they did a summer season at Leisure World in 1987.

"We like Bridlington so much we came to live here," said Sheila.

Their show also features a prize raffle, sponsored by Wetherspoon's Prior John pub in Promenade.

Tickets are available from the Prior John at five for £1, and during the show when the draw will be made to win an overnight stay at Wetherspoon's new Three Tuns in Thirsk, half a dozen bottles of wine, three prizes of a meal for two at Wetherspoon's and meat packs from a local butcher.

The fun gets underway at 6.30pm and tickets are all priced £5.50, but children under three go free.

They are now available from the Spa box office.
