OLD Bridlingtonians gathered for their annual reunion at the Gonville Hotel in Cambridge last Saturday.
After Grace from Stephen Shipley, members enjoyed a buffet lunch, after which branch secretary Tim Kench welcomed those present.
Following the loyal toast, the new chairman Clive Thompson received the Chain of Office from retiring chairman Paul Atkinson. Clive then went on to propose the toast to the OB Club.
The response was given by the club president John Hilditch.
The chairman-elect Stephen Shipley proposed the toast to the school and staff and included a solo rendition of a recently-rediscovered version of a "psalm".
The response was given by Paul Atkinson, in his role as deputy head of the school.
Paul said the all-weather pitch was at last being completed and described how well the school has progressed since escaping Special Measures, though a further visit from the Ofsted inspectors is imminent.
There was no divergence from custom after the lunch with reminiscences and conversation lasting well into the late afternoon. Future events include: A golf competition on the weekend of October 4 and 5 at Bridlington Golf Club, Belvedere. Contact Roger Thorpe 678200 for details.
