TOWN RELEGATED ON FINAL DAY

BRIDLINGTON Town have been relegated to the Northern Counties East Premier Division after yesterday's defeat at Chorley.
On the day Town needed to better Woodley Sports' result to stay in the UniBond League, and with Town playing at another bottom-six side victory was possible.

But in the end it didn't matter what former Town manager Ash Berry's Woodley did as Town
lost their 26th league game of the season and took their total goals conceded tally to 99.

Only Mossley conceded more (100), but no-one lost as many as Town, and the second-worst defence in the league was backed up by the second-lowest attack in the league with just 42 goals. Woodley scored the least (38).

But many Town fans think it is best for a drop in standard of football as most of the players are not good enough for UniBond football, and some maybe not good enough for Northern Counties football, but the fans just want to see a few wins after another struggling season.

Chorley drew first blood yesterday with Drew netting after 14 minutes. His side doubled their lead with 30 minutes remaining through German before centre-back Carl Giblin pulled one back with just five minutes left on the clock.

It could be an interesting summer at Queensgate with the current management duo expected to stand down, and chairman Peter Smurthwaite looking for a new number one.
