THERE is a chance to dine and dance to keep youngsters in the swing at a local playground.
The Bempton and Buckton Playground Action Group, which raised about £36,000 for a playground for the two villages, is holding its annual Christmas fund-raising ball at the Expanse Hotel, in Bridlington, next month.

The group, started by a handful of local mums more than two years ago, opened the playground in September last year but the fund-raising has to continue.

It costs about £1,300 a year in running costs, including maintenance and insurance and safety inspections, to keep the playground open.

The group hopes the ball will equal previous events and raise about £600.

Tickets for the ball, to be held on Friday, December 19, cost £29.50 per person and include a three-course meal, live band, disco and raffle.

They are available from Bempton Post Office on 850438.
